To find treasure, find treasure
Aditi Mathur and Ratnesh Mathur
If you ever get to row a boat
paddle out to find treasures afloat
you’ll find them here and there
Oh my! You’ll find them everywhere.
It doesn’t matter who you are
a parent, a teacher, or an angel
stressed, relaxed, crude, or gentle
you’ll find treasures anywhere you stare.
Under a rock, or a stinky filthy sock
inside a naughty prank, below the last rank
under the unkempt greasy hair
treasures are found actually anywhere.
In the spelling that she got all wrong
In the missed notes of that easy song
In the attempts that looked not strong
you’ll find treasures hiding in there.
Find treasures in those who are somewhat wild
the completely thoroughly obnoxious child
or the one you think is just a little mild
find them if required with your deepest prayer.
Find treasures in playfulness, harmfulness,
forgetfulness, faithfulness, fearfulness,
Find in every ness that you can guess
Find them in the whole stratosphere.
Too many of us are teaching and preaching
But to find treasures requires reaching
keeping aside what’s worth aside keeping
find treasures, for they’re our biosphere.
You don’t have to count the doubts in your mind
You don’t have to count the hours you grind
You just have to count the jewels you find
and share the treasures in both hemispheres.
Find them in beings you think are great
Find them in beings who are always late
Find them in beings you might want to hate
Find them in beings who are nowhere.
If you ever get to row a boat
sit in it and look inside you
you’ll surely find that
you are the found treasure.
