By virtue of their short lengths, short stories are easy to read, but writing them is a different story all together. What makes a good short story? Can it be taught? Generating interest in writing assignments is always an uphill task, especially if students are not too keen to take them on. Difficult it may be, but not impossible, if the teacher keeps certain things in mind.
